SPECIFICATION NUMBER: <br /> Climax Molybdenum CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION 03 30 00 SPE <br /> AFreeport•McMoRanCompany TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION PROJECT NAME: <br /> CAVR Shaft Closure Project <br /> 2. As a substitute for Type V cement,ASTM C150,Type II or III cement with <br /> a minimum of 20%, and a maximum of 35%, substitution of Class F fly ash <br /> (ASTM C618) by weight may be used. Class C fly ash shall not be <br /> substituted for cement. <br /> 3. Cement shall be stored to prevent caking, partial setting, deterioration or <br /> contamination. Cement,which has any deleterious characteristics, shall not <br /> be used. <br /> B. Aggregates <br /> 1. Coarse aggregate shall conform to ASTM C33. See Section 3.01.B for <br /> maximum size of coarse aggregate. <br /> 2. Fine aggregate shall be clean, angular sand. Fine aggregate shall conform <br /> to ASTM C33. <br /> 3. Aggregates shall be stored and handled so as to preserve the gradation and <br /> cleanliness of the material. Segregation and/or contamination are cause for <br /> rejection. Any deficient material shall be removed and replaced at the <br /> Contractor's expense. <br /> 4. Aggregate reactivity shall be evaluated in accordance with ASTM C33 and <br /> the results reported with the proposed mix design. <br /> C. Water <br /> 1. Water used in mixing concrete shall meet, as a minimum, the requirements <br /> of ASTM C94, C1602 and Chapter 4 of ACI 318 for appropriate exposure <br /> class. <br /> D. Reinforcement <br /> 1. Materials <br /> a. Reinforcing steel bars shall conform to the requirements of ASTM <br /> A615, Grade 60. Bars that are indicated on the Drawings to be <br /> welded (the circular hoop reinforcing) shall conform to the <br /> requirements of ASTM A706, Grade 60.
