higher tolerance of salts in the soils. Once again, these are parameters proposed for the <br />Bench 1 subsoil. The Division finds the value of </= 15 SAR acceptable. <br />WF -C is proposing to eliminate the exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP) parameter. <br />Although there is value in determining a separate EC value distinct from the SAR value, <br />there is correlation between the SAR value and the EC value below values of 50 SAR. <br />For the purposes of the subsoil testing, the Division concurs that WF -C may eliminate <br />analyzing for ESP. <br />WF -C is also proposing to reduce the acceptable calcium carbonate percentage from 40% <br />to 20%. The Division is in agreement with this change. <br />The Division concurs with the approved changes to Table 2.05.4(2)(4)-1. <br />The Division noted that the WF -C proposes to eliminate reference to analysis methods <br />found in Permit Section 2.05.4(2)(4). The Division believes this information is valuable <br />to reduce questions regarding methodology in the future. If WF -C wishes to remove this <br />information from the text, retention of the information in an appendix or exhibit may be <br />appropriate. The Division considers this information important and should be retained in <br />the permit. <br />I have not reviewed the rest of Section 2.05.4(2)(4) regarding additional proposed <br />changes to this section. <br />2 <br />
