Monitoring data were used to study climatologic, soil -water, ground -water, geologic, surface - <br />water, and water -quality to help describe the hydrogeology and geochemistry of an area that is being <br />surface mined for coal (USGS Open -File Report 92-122). While Seneca Coal Company later assumed <br />responsibility for reclamation of the wells, and later PSCM; there were no permitted monitoring <br />requirements.
