COMMENTS
This was a complete inspection by Rob Zuber of the Colorado Division for Reclamation,Mining and Safety
(Division). No New Elk Coal Company(NECC)representative accompanied the field inspection on December
16. The weather was clear,and the ground was muddy and partially snow covered. The records check took place
on December 15.

The erosion problem at the northwest corner of the site was observed. This problem has been discussed in past
inspection reports and is mostly the result of poor stormwater management and the resulting runoff from the
adjacent,upgradient property. Straw bales are in place to limit the damage of this erosion,but these BMPs are still
in need of repair.
The upgradient diversion ditch was inspected. It is poorly shaped at the lower end(near the road).
SIGNS AND MARKERS—Rule 4.02:
The sign at the entrance gate was in order.
