(Metcalf) recently conducted an intensive Class
III cultural resource inventory for Twentymile Coal Company's (Twentymile) proposed 13L
grout borehole and access road in T5N/R86W, Section 20, in Routt County, Colorado (Figure 1).
The inventory consists of 6.46 acres of private lands with private mineral rights. Jurisdiction, for
the purposes of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, is through the Colorado
Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (CDRMS). The CDRMS receives federal funding
from the Office of Surface Mining, Reclamation, and Enforcement (US Department of the
Interior). The Colorado State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) is a consulting party for the
purposes of Section 106.
The inventory was performed in order for Twentymile to fulfill permit stipulations to
construct a borehole drill pad and access road. The borehole will be used to introduce grout for
stabilization purposes to support underground mining operations. The proposed drill pad
measures approximately 250 ft by 250 ft; the proposed access road, which largely follows an
existing two -track trail, measures approximately 2,550 ft long.
(970)328-6244
(303)425-4507
(970)434-9080
(701)258-1215
Fax: (970) 328-5623
Fax: (303) 425-8911
Fax: (970) 434-9740
Fax: (701) 258-7156
P.O.
