Climax Molybdenum
A Freeport-M.WoRan Company
Description of Site and Reclamation
The Buckskin site (NOI file number P-1980-003) is located approximately 4.5 miles (7.24 km)northwest of
the town of Alma, Colorado, and approximately 750 feet (229 m)south of the USFS Kite Lake trailhead in
Park County, Colorado (Attachment 1). The site is located adjacent to Park County Road 8, a dirt road
used for recreation access to the Kite Lake area and surrounding peaks. The site is located inside of a
user-created campground that was presumably the old drill pad for the borehole.
The September 12, 2013, DRMS inspection report identified two drill holes associated with mining and
prospecting activities. The upper site, KL-2, was originally accessed by an old jeep trail. The road is
currently being used as a hiking trail and it appears stable and vegetated. No evidence of the KL-2 drill
pad, casing, or hole was found during the inspection The lower, KL-1. was described in the DRMS report
as located at the heavily used campground, with a casing protruding from the ground about six inches
above the surface. Much of the site surrounding the casing was devoid of vegetation, presumably due to
continued heavy camping use. The site was largely free of debris and trash. No noxious weeds were
noted.
KL-1 is located at the following GPS coordinates:
39°19'33.59" N // 106°07'44.23"W
The mineral prospecting drill hole permanent abandonment final report for the KL-1 borehole identified
during the 2013 inspection, including detailed methodology and photo documentation of the closure, is
included in Attachment 2. Final borehole closure was completed on August 24, 2015.
