The existing bench that exists along the south perimeter of the disturbed area already has a berm of
approximately 2-3 feet height, which was made of topsoil by a long ago highway construction opera-
tion. This topsoil berm will be expanded to a height of approximately 5-8 feet based on the amount
of topsoil still available from the bench area. The berm sideslopes will be 2:0H:1.0V. This berm will
serve as visual protection for the Highway below as well as a water barrier to prevent site runoff
from leaving the site. During final reclamation, the soil from the berm will be respread in the imme-
diate area for reclamation.
All berms and topsoil stockpiles will be seeded and mulched according to the recommendations of
the local NRCS immediately after creation.
See Map I/J in Appendix B for the outlines of all soil areas based on the SCS survey conducted years
ago. All stockpile areas will have slopes no steeper than 2.5H:1V and will be seeded within 60 days
after they are created.
6. Water Information. Rights and Augmentation
All water rights issues such as availability of water for this operation, consumption rates, dust con-
trol, etc. is presented in Exhibit G - Water Information.
7. Schedule of Operations
Mining operations will only occur as dictated by demand up to the maximum rates described earlier
in the mine plan. Mining may occur in winter months if demand exists. The operator does not antici-
pate night gravel mining operations, although minor truck activity or repairs may occur after hours.
Berry Pit 3/02 12 '
