CLIMATE INFORMATION <br /> evidenced by the limited amount of invasion that occurs on sandy areas where the normal soil layer is <br /> absent. Although individual plants may do well in that environment, plant communities exhibit a very <br /> low density. That low density is directly due to habitat limitations imposed by the sandy growth <br /> medium. Only very drought resistant and very deeply rooted plants can survive for more than a few <br /> years on the sand. But with a good layer of soil, survival is much increased, although the need for deep <br /> root systems is still present.
