CANNED EXHIBIT I
Soils Information
Following is a description of the soils found on the property according to the Soil Survey Staff,
Natural Resources Conservation Service, United States Department of Agriculture. Web Soil
Survey. Available online at http://websoilsurvey.nres.usda.g_ov/. The information was accessed on
April 9, 2009. Attached is a map showing the location of the soil categories described below.
Aquolls and Aquents, gravelly substratum
Aquolls
Slopes are 0 to 3 percent. This component is on swales, streams, flood plains. The parent material
consists of recent alluvium. Depth to a root restrictive layer is greater than 60 inches. The natural
drainage class is poorly drained. Water movement in the most restrictive layer is moderately high.
Available water to a depth of 60 inches is moderate. Shrink-swell potential is low. This soil is
frequently flooded. It is not ponded. A seasonal zone of water saturation is at 27 inches during
March, April, May, June, and July. Organic matter content in the surface horizon is about 2
percent. This component is in the R067BY035CO Salt Meadow ecological site. Nonirrigated land
capability classification is 6w. This soil meets hydric criteria.
Aquents, gravelly substation
Slopes are 0 to 3 percent. This component is on stream terraces. The parent material consists of
recent alluvium. Depth to a root restrictive layer is greater than 60 inches. The natural drainage
class is poorly drained. Water movement in the most restrictive layer is moderately high. Available
water to a depth of 60 inches is moderate. Shrink-swell potential is low. This soil is frequently
flooded. It is not ponded. A seasonal zone of water saturation is at 15 inches during March, April,
May, June, July, August, and September. Organic matter content in the surface horizon is about 1
percent. This component is in the R067BY035CO Salt Meadow ecological site. Nonirrigated land
capability classification is 6w. Irrigated land capability classification is 6w. This soil meets hydric
criteria. The calcium carbonate equivalent within 40 inches, typically, does not exceed 5 percent.
The soil has a very slightly saline horizon within 30 inches of the soil surface.
Fort Collins loam, 1 to 3 percent slopes
Slopes are 1 to 3 percent. This component is on plains, terraces. The parent material consists of
alluvium and/or modified by thin eolian deposits. Depth to a root restrictive layer is greater than 60
inches. The natural drainage class is well drained. Water movement in the most restrictive layer is
moderately high. Available water to a depth of 60 inches is high. Shrink-swell potential is low.
This soil is not flooded. It is not ponded. There is no zone of water saturation within a depth of 72
inches. Organic matter content in the surface horizon is about 2 percent. This component is in the
R067BY002CO Loamy(formerly Loamy Plains) ecological site. Nonirrigated land capability
classification is 4c. Irrigated land capability classification is 2e. This soil does not meet hydric
criteria. The calcium carbonate equivalent within 40 inches, typically, does not exceed 10 percent.
Greeley 351h Avenue Mine(M-1977-036)
DBMS 112 Reclamation Permit Amendment Application
Page Il of 12
