The Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP) also has accounts <br /> of the following special status species in the general area of Section 34 of T6N, R66W: whooping <br /> crane, northern redbelly dace, Preble's meadow jumping mouse, and the cylindrical papershell <br /> (CNHP 2008). <br /> The whooping crane (Grus americana), a Federal and State endangered species, is a casual migrant <br /> on the Eastern Plains and has been historically observed in the area. The CNHP's Biodiversity <br /> Tracking and Conservation System identified one occurrence record in 1982, east of Severence, <br /> Colorado (CNHP 2008).
