Dear Mr. Hays,
BUJ&T Consulting, Inc. and Loloff Construction, Inc. have reviewed the letter dated April 23, 2015
regarding Groundwater Monitoring Data. The following are our responses to each of the
numbered comments you provided in the letter:
1. The Division did not receive groundwater elevation data for the Monroe well,
which is included in the approved groundwater monitoring plan. Please
provide groundwater elevation data for the Monroe well and begin the required
monthly well monitoring, if not already started by the Operator.
Response:
The well was reviewed to see if access could be gained to measure the water level in
the well. Mr. Doug Derr met with the Monroe's and after trying to remove some of the
existing equipment it was determined that since the materials were galvanized steel
they did not want to continue as there were concerns that the existing
equipment/materials might break. The Monroe's indicated that as tong as the pond
continues to be recharged and tilled they had no problems with their well.
2. In the Responses to Second Adequacy Review Comments for TR-01, dated
October 21, 2013, the Operator committed to providing the trigger level
elevations from a 2-foot change from historical groundwater levels for each
monitoring location with the groundwater data. The Division has not received
the trigger level elevations for the monitoring locations with the groundwater
date provided by the Operator. Please provide the trigger elevations for the
monitoring locations with the groundwater data provided by the Operator.
Please provide the trigger elevations for each monitoring well location.
Response:
The wells on the west side of the pit have been monitored which include the Parker,
Harrell and Francis wells. Loloff Construction is working with Parkers on their existing
well to come up with a solution to either re-drill that well or provide potable water
from North Weld Water. If there is a drop of more than 2 feet in the Harrell and
Francis wells, from the monitoring elevations provided in April 2015, Loloff
Construction will continue to work with the well owners to provide a solution to any
problems they may have with their wells.
