RECEIVED
NOV 2 4 2015
November 21, 2015
DIVISION OF RECLAMAI ION
MINING 1 SAFETY
Mr. Tyler O'Donnell
Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Permit No. M-1999-034 — Cooley Reservoir and Fulton Wildlife Area
Corrective Action Extension Request
Dear Tyler:
AGGREGATE
INDUSTRIES
Aggregate Industries (AI) is requesting an additional extension of time to address a corrective
action item set forth in the Division's report of its July 2 and July 9, 2015 inspections of Cooley
Reservoir. By letter dated October 7, 2015, the Division approved an extension of time for
submittal of a flood control mitigation plan to November 30, 2015.
AI proposed in its extension request to continue to communicate with City of Thornton regarding
its progress in obtaining appropriate agency approvals and funding for flood restoration and
mitigation improvements in order to complete restoration of damages from the 2015 flooding
events as well as construct long-term improvements to mitigate potential impacts from future
flooding. Mike Refer and 1 have been attempting to communicate with Emily Hunt of Thornton
this week to determine the status of Thornton's efforts, but as of close of business yesterday we
have not heard from her.
I will be out all of Thanksgiving week through December 1 and Mike will also be out much of
that time so we will be unable to provide either a technical revision or an update to the Division
by November 30. At this time, we respectfully request a minimum extension to December 11 to
allow an opportunity to connect with Thornton and obtain the information necessary to submit the
technical revision or status update.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Very truly yours,
akii;
Connie N.
