Hotchkiss Ranches, Inc.
P.O. Box 479
Hotchkiss, Colorado 81419
July 22. 2013
Mr. Brock Bowies
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Oxbow Mining LLC, Reclamation Waiver for Woody Plants.
Dear Mr. Bowles:
Most of the Hotchkiss Ranch Property where Oxbow Mining is conducting coal exploration and
methane drainage drilling and reclamation activities consists of large expansive areas of woody
plants, trees and shrub species. As the existence of open grass meadow areas are at a premium on
our lands, reestablishment of woody species is not desirable. Woody species will naturally
encroach over time onto reclaimed areas and there is no need or desire to see woody plants re-
established by the mine.
For this reason, the Hotchkiss Ranch desires that all woody plant standards be waived for our
lands disturbed and reclaimed by the Elk Creek Mine.
Please contact me if there are questions.
Sincerely
Hotchkiss Ranches, Inc.
Brian "Kip" Farmer
President
Xe: Jim Kiger, Oxbow Mining
