November 10, 2015 C-2009-087/Peabody Sage Creek Mine JLE <br />The mine is currently idle and the portals have been shut. <br />OTHER (SPECIFY): <br />Several maintenance items were noted in previous Division inspections. The status of these items are discussed <br />below: <br />• PSCM will need to submit an MR to update permit section 2.03.11 of the permit to identify where a public <br />copy of the permit is located. <br />o This item is outstanding <br />• PSCM has sealed and abandoned the former USGS wells near Pond 004 and have removed the gaging <br />station near the spring above the pond. Please submit abandonment reports for these wells in accordance <br />with Rule 4.07.3(3). <br />o This item has been addressed. <br />• The riprap along the SIIPM-6 drainage has slid off of the erosion control matting at several locations <br />along the drainage. PSCM will need to replace the riprap on these areas. <br />o This item was addressed during the inspection. Rip -rap was replaced in these areas. <br />Figure 1. Replaced rip -rap along SIIPM-6 drainage. <br />• Smart ditches have been installed in drainages FA -D5 and FA -D6. The Division has observed some <br />undercutting of these ditches and/or animals have burrowed under the ditches near the northwest end of <br />the ditches. <br />o PSCM has attempted to repair portions of these ditches and have filled in several areas where the <br />damage has occurred. However, there are areas where the repairs have not occurred. Mr. <br />Cowman indicated he would have a crew come out and continue the repairs of these ditches.
