Journey Ventures, LLC. - Journey Ventures Pit - Technical Revision No. 2 Request,
File No. M-2008-080, Bond Calculations and Updated Mine Phasing Plan
Dear Mr. Hays,
Journey Ventures, LLC requests a revision to their existing permit to address the following 2
items:
1. Exhibit C - Pre-Mining/Mining Plan
a. Revision of the mine phasing.
2. Exhibit L - Reclamation Costs
a. Revision of the financial warranty required for the reclamation of each phase of
mining.
Detailed descriptions of these revisions are in the following sections.
Exhibit C - Pre-Mining/Mining Plan
Revision of mine phasing
Phase 7 will be mined to a depth to achieve 125,000 cubic yards which is roughly 27 feet
deep and the reclamation will be backfilling Phase 7 to an elevation 2 feet above the
groundwater (elevation 4592) table. There is currently 40,000 cubic yards of overburden that
will be used to backfill Phase 7 once the 125,000 cubic yards of aggregate materials are
mined. The other phases that are impacted are as follows:
1. Surface mining of the top 5 feet of material to an elevation 2 feet above the
groundwater (elevation 4592) table of the Phase 1 area which produces 45,000 cubic
yards to backfill Phase 7.
2. Surface mining of the top 8 feet of material to an elevation 2 feet above the
groundwater (elevation 4597) table of the Phase 11A area which produces 20,000
cubic yards to backfill Phase 7.
3. The scarifying, topsoil placement, and seeding of disturbed areas in Phase 1, Phase
2, Phase 11A, and Phase 7.
V l 305 Denver Avenue — Suite D - Fort Lupton CO 80621 • Ph: 303-857-6222 • Fax: 303-857-6224
