King Coal Mine (C-1981-035) TR -20 Adequacy Review #3 Response
DRMS Oct 2015: Item regarding description is resolved.
DRMS Oct 2015 (New): It is difficult on Map King 1 007 to understand the relationship of the Refuse final
contour to the open drainage ditches. Please clarify the drawing so that this relationship is more
apparent.
The line indicating various reaches is very fine on the map. Please indicate on the map the overland
diversion structures and reaches in a line weight that is comparable to that indicated in the legend for
Map 007.
Map King 1-016 shows refuse coming up against the disturbed boundary.
Please clarify what areas on the map will be composed of refuse.
Pease explain what mechanisms for overland diversion will be implemented on the south edge of the
refuse pile.
For the crosssection (Map 016A) please make all text (and especially that on the vertical and horizontal
scale) a legible size.
Also, please indicate on the map the overland diversion structure in a line weight that is comparable to
that indicated in the legend for "open drainage ditch".
Adequacy Review 2A (Supplemental Response) Roof, Floor, Interburden and Coal Sampling: Proposed
Sampling Procedures
DRMS Oct 2015 (new): This document was reviewed as per Rules:
Rules that are or may be permanent to this issue are as follows
➢ 1.04 Definitions: (1a), (2), (139) and (140)
➢ 2.04.6 (3)(a) Geology Description Underground Mining (iii)(C)&(D); (iv)(D); and(v)(B)
➢ 4.05.1(4) Hydrologic Balance—General: (b)(vii) and (c)(iii)
➢ 4.05.8 Hydrologic Balance —Acid-forming and Toxic -forming Spoil
➢ 4.05.11 Ground Water Protection
➢ 4.14.1 Backfilling and Grading — General: (2)(f)(iv)
➢ 4.14.3 Backfilling and Grading -Covering Coal and Acid and Toxic -Forming Materials
Adequacy items as per the review of this document:
1. The plan provides very few specifics or justifications relevant to the King II mine.
Please provide a site specific plan.
2. Copper and Cadmium, listed in Table 3 of the DRMS guidance document are not listed in the
proposed chemical parameters and Methods of Analysis table provided by GCC. The Table
provided by GCC is a copy of Table 5 in the DRMS guidance document, which is "Overburden
Geochemistry — Suggested Methods of Analysis".
