October 20, 2015 C-1981-014/Southfield Mine RDZ <br /> <br /> <br />Near the truck tunnel, the silt fence is in good shape but the wattles need maintenance. <br />The RDA was inspected from the road/track along the toe, and the southwest corner was walked. The overall <br />vegetation cover is excellent, and there are no erosion features. <br />SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12: <br />Near Pond 4, the slump repairs are complete. The areas on the east side of the RDA that have recently <br />been repaired are stable. <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br />The explosives bunker area and the rock dust storage area were inspected, and no large bare spots, erosion, <br />or weed patches were seen. At the reclaimed Substation #2 there was no erosion and some emergent vegetation. <br />At the northwest end of the truck tunnel, the shed has been completely removed, and straw mats have been placed <br />on the site for erosion control. The tunnel apron at this end is mostly clear of sediment. <br />No erosion was seen at the Monarch Fan; this area has excellent vegetation cover. <br />OFFSITE SUPPORT FACILIITES - Rule 4.04, 4.28: <br />Vegetation cover on the reclaimed ponds at the loadout is very extensive with dominant species including <br />sunflowers and kochia. <br />At the reclaimed Pond L1, the silt fence is lying on the ground and requires repair. At Pond L2, the silt fence <br />below the riprap needs to be repaired. <br />TOPSOIL Rule 4.06 <br />Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; Redistribution 4.06.4: <br />Two topsoil stockpiles were observed: the one near the gravel parking lot in the facilities area and the one <br />at the northwest corner of the RDA. No erosion was seen, and signs were in place.
