PERMIT #: M-2008-082
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: October 13, 2015
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS of the Morton Lakes 112c sand and
gravel site. DRMS met with site operations supervisor Tom Turnipseed at the site office at approximately
1330.
This inspection focused on the site entrance area. The recently submitted and approved TR01 moves the site
access point from its originally permitted location to an improved access point off Highway 52 which leads to
the north part of the Morton Lakes permit boundary (Photos 1-6). The relocation of the entrance and the
improvements to Hwy 52 will satisfy both Weld County and CDOT requirements. The pile of asphalt located
beside the new access road shown in photo 2 will be recycled and used to surface the access road to reduce
dust.
It was noted during the inspection that permit boundary markers will need to be placed along all unfenced
permit boundaries (site entrance and northern boundary). Please note that as long as the adjacent Holton and
Morton Lakes operations continue to operate under separate permits, the boundary between then will need
to be clearly delineated, marked and maintained. Also note that the permitted setbacks from the river,
ditches and other structures should be clearly marked.
Site activity during the inspection was comprised of stripping topsoil and preparing the area in Phase 3 for the
plant to be brought in, and stripping topsoil from Phase Ito create the settling pond. Topsoil was being
stockpiled on the east side of Phase 3.
No other issues were noted during this inspection, and DRMS left the site at approximately 1530.
Inspection Contact Address
Tom Turnipseed
Ready Mixed Concrete Company
14585 Brighton Road
Brighton, CO 80601
