in the reference area, annual grass component in the reclaimed area shall not exceed the relative cover
of the annual grass relative cover in the reference area by more than 5%.
For 2011 Greasewood Bond Release Block sampling results:
Perennial cool season grass relative cover was 1.2%.
Perennial warm season grass relative cover was 1.4%.
Forb & Sub -shrub relative cover was 7.0%.
No one species exceeded 70% relative cover.
The Division finds that the greasewood bond release block is successful for species diversity for 2011.
For 2012 greasewood bond release block sampling results:
Perennial cool season grass relative cover was 1.2%.
Perennial warm season grass relative cover was 1.2%.
Forb & Sub -shrub relative cover was 14.3%.
No one species exceeded 70% relative cover.
The Division finds that the greasewood bond release block is successful for species diversity for 2012.
Shadscale Bond Release Block
Cover: Shadscale Bond Release Block 2011 & 2012.
In 2011, live vegetative cover measured on the shadscale bond release block was 47.8%. The average
perennial vegetative cover was 22.2%. 21.1% live vegetative cover was attributed to Cheatgrass
(Bromus tectorum [syn. Anisantha tectorum]).
Live vegetative cover measured in 2011 on the shadscale reference area was 50.10% with 8.5% live
vegetative cover comprised of non -noxious perennial species. The reclamation success standard
requires the reclaimed area to meet or exceed 90% of the perennial vegetative cover on the approved
reference area at a 90% confidence interval (PAP pg. 12-22). Cheatgrass contributed 39.7% relative
cover in the shadscale reference area in 2011. The relative cover contributed by Cheatgrass in the
reference area was considerably higher than the relative cover of Cheatgrass measured in the
Shadscale bond release block. 90% of the perennial live cover equals 7.65%. The Division finds the
shadscale reclaimed areas successful for vegetative cover for 2011.
Live vegetative cover measured in 2012 on the shadscale bond release block was 28.2%. The average
perennial vegetative cover was 21.15%. Cheatgrass contributed 6.0% live vegetative cover.
Live vegetative cover measured in 2012 on the shadscale reference area was 6.40% live vegetative
cover comprised of non -noxious perennial species. The reclamation success standard requires the
reclaimed area to meet or exceed 90% of the perennial vegetative cover on the approved reference
area at a 90% confidence interval (PAP pg. 12-22). Cheatgrass contributed 25.3% relative cover in
the shadscale reference area in 2012. 90% of the perennial live cover equals 5.76%. The Division
finds the shadscale bond release block successful for vegetative cover for 2012.
Page 18
