2011, in order to provide reclamation success standards that account for the invasive annual grass
concerns prevalent in the region. TR60 was approved May 5, 2011.
Greasewood Bond Release Block
Cover: Greasewood Areas 2011 & 2012.
The live vegetative cover in the greasewood bond release block during the 2011 vegetation sampling
effort measured 69.3%. The average perennial vegetative cover was 24.98%. Of this live vegetative
cover, 34% was attributed to Cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum [syn. Anisantha tectorum]). Cheatgrass
is considered a noxious weed (Colorado Department of Agriculture, Noxious Weed Act) and is not
included in the reclamation success determination.
Live vegetative cover measured in 2011 on the greasewood reference area was 73.55% with 13.20%
live vegetative cover comprised of non -noxious perennial species. The reclamation success standard
requires the reclaimed area to meet or exceed 90% of the perennial vegetative cover on the approved
reference area at a 90% confidence interval (PAP pg. 12-22). Cheatgrass contributed 55.75% live
vegetative cover in 2011. 90% of the perennial live cover equaled 11.88%. The Division finds the
greasewood reclaimed areas successful for vegetative cover for 2011.
Live vegetative cover measured on the greasewood bond release block during the 2012 vegetation
sampling was 36.05%. The average perennial vegetative cover was 20.72%. 11.5% live vegetative
cover was attributed to Cheatgrass.
Live vegetative cover measured in 2012 on the greasewood reference area was 41.67%. Live
vegetative cover comprised of non -noxious perennial species was 9.53%. The reclamation success
standard requires the reclaimed area to meet or exceed 90% of the perennial vegetative cover on the
approved reference area at a 90% confidence interval (PAP pg. 12-22). Cheatgrass contributed
31.60% live vegetative cover in 2012. 90% of the perennial live cover equaled 8.58%. The Division
finds the greasewood reclaimed areas successful for vegetative cover for 2012.
Productivity: Greasewood Areas 2011 & 2012.
Total herbaceous productivity measured in the greasewood bond release block for 2011 was 872.1
lbs/acres. The average perennial herbaceous production for 2011 was 182.0 lbs/acre. The average
total herbaceous production measured in 2011 on the greasewood reference area was 982.4 lbs/acre
with 103.79 lbs/acre vegetative productivity composed of non -noxious perennial species. Noxious
weed species are not included in the reclamation success determination; therefore productivity
reclamation success was measured using the non -noxious herbaceous biomass. The reclamation
success standard requires the reclaimed area to meet or exceed 90% of the total herbaceous production
on the approved reference area at a 90% confidence interval (PAP pg. 12-23). 90% of total
herbaceous production equals 93.41 lbs/acre. The Division finds the greasewood reclaimed areas
successful for total herbaceous production for 2011.
Total herbaceous productivity in the greasewood bond release block in 2012 was 262.8 lbs/acre.
Perennial herbaceous production was 107.9 lbs/acre.
Page 16
