Doc Date:1211112001999 <br />III I II I II I II IIII III <br />• 2/4� YDROLOGIC IMPACTS <br />This section discusses the predicted impacts and mitigation of the surface and ground waters from the <br />Trapper Mine, changes in the post -mine hydrologic balance, probable impacts to the potential alluvial <br />valley floors, and operational monitoring. <br />4.8.1 Surface Water <br />Section 2.7.4 discusses the pre -mine conditions of the surface water near the Trapper Mine, while this <br />section discusses the surface water impacts and mitigation of those impacts. The use of surface water at <br />Trapper Mine will be presented first and followed by a discussion of the surface drainage during and after <br />mining. Finally, data which were collected from the operational surface water quality mondori g is <br />presented, with a discussion of the surface water quality after mining. This data includes the information <br />obtained during the initial permit term of 1981-1987. Data from 1988 through the present are included in <br />Appendix W (annual reports), Section 2. <br />• It should be noted that this application reflects the maximum expected level of production at Trapper Mine <br />during the proposed permit period. A lesser production rate during parts or all of the permit period will <br />result in a slower progression of disturbance. The drainage and sediment control plan presented in this <br />application covers all affected lands at Trapper through the proposed permit term. All structures, <br />however, are planned for maximum disturbance through the life of the mine. <br />4.8.1.1 Use of Surface Water <br />Applications to the District a Water Court, Steamboat Springs, have been filed to use surface water in the <br />settling reservoirs for dust suppression, livestock and wildlife. A copy of this application is included in <br />Appendix Q. This is the only use of surface water at Trapper Mine. <br />
