PERMIT #: M-2003-058
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: PSH
INSPECTION DATE: September 17, 2015
OBSERVATIONS
The Fairbanks Pit was inspected by Peter Hays with the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(Division/DRMS) as part of the Division's monitoring inspection program. The site was previously inspected by
the Division on October 24, 2011. Mr. Gordon Brocker with Glenn E. Sessions & Sons, Inc. was present during
the inspection.
The site is permitted for 19.06 acres. The site was inactive during the inspection. The onsite equipment
consisted of a grizzly screen and a dozer. Product stockpiles were located on the pit floor of both mining
areas. The mining activity will not reach bedrock or expose groundwater. The current highwalls were
estimated at 10 feet in height. The Operator reported 1,256 cubic yards of stockpiled material was removed
from the site in 2014 in the last annual report. The pit floor was dry. The site appeared stable and no erosion
features were observed. The stockpile of imported material from Cameron Pass remains on site. The material
will be used to complete highwall regrading during final reclamation. The Division received an affidavit for the
imported inert fill on September 12, 2011.
The approved post mining land use for the site is rangeland. Reclamation activities are scheduled to
commence at the completion of mining activities. The reclamation plan is to reshape, re -topsoil and
revegetate the area with grass seed once mining is complete. The site will be regraded at 3H:1V with topsoil
replaced at a depth of 2-6". Topsoil stockpiles were observed along the northeast and southwest boundaries.
A patch of Canada thistle was observed on the northern berm separating the two mining areas. The Operator
stated the thistle patch would be sprayed soon.
The Division holds a financial warranty in the amount of $25,720.00, which appeared adequate to reclaim the
current mining disturbance.
An entrance sign was posted and permit boundary markers were observed as required by Rule 3.1.12.
Inspection Contact Address
Mr. Gordon Brocker
Glenn E.
