PERMIT #: M-2011-027
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: PSH
INSPECTION DATE: September 16, 2015
OBSERVATIONS
The Wamsley Pit was inspected by Peter Hays with the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(Division/DRMS) as part of the Division's monitoring inspection program. Mr. Richard Wamsley was present
during the inspection. The site was previously inspected by the Division on September 16, 2011 for the 110c
application pre -operational inspection.
The site is located approximately 19 miles south of Walden, Colorado in Jackson County. The 110c
reclamation permit was issued by the Division on December 7, 2011. The Division currently holds a financial
warranty in the amount of $8,800, which appears adequate to complete reclamation at the site based on this
inspection. The required mine sign and boundary markers were observed as required by Rule 3.1.12. The
mine sign was located on the entrance gate to the site off Highway 14 and the permit corners were delineated
with wood posts.
The site is permitted for 6.74 total acres in size and will be mined and reclaimed 3 acres at a time. Mining will
create a flat area with 3H:1V slopes along all sides of the site. No processing equipment was on site. Mr.
Wamsley stated the site is used as a source of pit run material only. The south highwall was estimated at 7
feet in height. The east and west highwalls tapered from south to north from 7 feet in height to the elevation
of the current pit floor. Mining activities are expected to continue to the east. The pit floor was dry and no
erosion features were observed during the inspection.
The proposed post mining land use is general agriculture. No noxious weeds were observed during the
inspection. Topsoil stockpiles were located along the western permit boundary and topsoil was being stripped
ahead of excavation towards the east from the current pit. No reclamation activities were observed.
Photographs taken during the inspection are attached. No problems were noted during the inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Mr. Richard L Wamsley
dba RLW Enterprises
3465 County Road 11
Walden, CO 80430
Cc: Wally Erickson; DRMS
