SEP 18Zu5
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY
ENGINEER'S CERTIFICATION
This report was prepared by the Engineer who's signature appears below or
the engineer's direct supervl ).
SIGNATURE:
/
No. 22601 S
DATE:
RECLAMATION NOTES:
Special Note: All areas anticipated to require reclamation within permit boundary are shown on maps
Historical Aspects -Reclamation of the disturbed areas will occur following completion of the mining
operation. The area is currently zoned as A-1(agricuItural), is part of the historic Cripple Creek Mining
District, with the Cripple Creek Mining Overlay District (CCMOD) located nearby to the south and east. Th
the historical flavor of the permit area must be retained. The closure of the site must consider both of its
historical uses for mining and agriculture.
Reclamation Objectives -At time of closure both old and new disturbances will be evaluted for future need
by the land owner, and will be reclaimed or put back in their state prior to modification for prospecting and
mining. Reclamation for agriculture will be focused on maximizing the level areas (terraces) that will be
useful for the production of rangeland feed for livestock. Terracing will help capture precipation, buildup
a greater biomasses in soils than possible on hillsides, and reduce the incident sun angle, allowing greater
energy absorption conductive to plant growth and higher production. Roads that are necessary for
property access, including maintenance, movement of livestock, fire control, and safety will remain. Note
that the construction of no new roads is anticipated at this time. Themodifications to the roads that are to
remain will include: removing MSHA mandated berms along their outsides, and installing drain bars in
areas which might have steepergrades, and reduction of width to pre -mining specifications, orthat
desired by landowner. Roads and leveled areas that are not needed or desired for roads will be stabilized,
and vegetated withe emphasis being to maximize vegetative growth. Any excess materials generated by
the work will be beneficially wasted on site with the goal of placing soils over rock to maximize flora
erowth and feed for the fauna.
Underground Access Area - At the time of final closure of the adit area, all mining equipment and
structures that are not wanted by the property owner will be removed from the site. Any and all refuse
generated in conjunction with the operation will be hauled away and properly disposed of. The tunnel
portal will be stabilized and secured using a steel gate with hooded lock installed for security; the
installation being designed to preclude entry by unauthorized persons. Atthe landowner's preference, the
closure can alternatively be closed by filling the portal with rock and covering with soil as recommended by
the engineer at time of closure. Cut banks will be evaluted for stability and if no hazards are found, will be
left with the intent of maximizing level areas for livestock.
etative Details- Areas to be reclaimed will be graded and top soil or growth media added where
lable and appropriate. Areas outside of the travelways that are to remain will receive seed bed
)aration, including but not limited to ripping, disking, harrowing, and will be seeded with a suitable
eland seed mixture chosen by engineer and approved by DRMS. The seed will be either drilled or
I broadcasted as appropriate. If broadcast, it will be covered by hand raking or by harrow methods.
seed mix will be sowed at a rate of no less than 10 pounds per acre, or per supplier's
mmendations. In areas with steep hillsides, reclamation mats or netting might also be used to assist
station if necessary. Seed will be applied in early spring or late fall to maximize the germination rate
to increase the chances of a successful revegetation. Use of fertilizers is not anticipated to be
ssary to obtain reclamation objectives. Monitoring of the site will occur until reclamation objectives
a been met.
