RIO GRANDE
SILVER, INC.
September 8, 2015
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Attention: Minerals Program, Travis Marshall
1313 Sherman Street, Suite 215
Denver Colorado 80203-2273
RECEIVED
SEP 1 1 2015
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MININGAND : CTY
RE: Request for Sampling Frequency Reduction in surface and groundwater
monitoring plans, Amendment No. 2 — Permit No. M-1977-215
Minerals Program,
Due to decreases in metal prices there was a significant reduction in activities on the
Bulldog Project in the fourth quarter of 2013. Rio Grande Silver (RGS) subsequently
placed the Bulldog Project in Temporary Cessation on March 26, 2014. Due to
continued low metal prices, RGS does not have plans to resume activities in 2016 and
is requesting a reduction in the number of samples required in Windy Gulch in an
effort to reduce costs.
Currently the Bulldog Environmental Protection Plan requires quarterly surface and
groundwater sampling in four locations in Windy Gulch. RGS is requesting that annual
samples be taken in the same four locations for surface and groundwater. Windy
Gulch is an ephemeral stream and is typically only sampled in early spring when the
stream is running from run-off snowmelt, so this would not be a significant change.
RGS has completed five quarters of groundwater sampling as of June 2015 and is
requesting the groundwater samples be taken in September.
RGS would plan to increase the sampling frequency once the Bulldog Project
resumes activities in the future.
Please contact me if you have questions or need additional information.
Sincerely,
'favk
Randy McClure
General Manager
RIOGRANDF
,11.VER.
