high, 450' long earthen berm will be placed along the southwest border of the proposed area as this is
the lowest elevation in the whole quarry. The overburden and rubble berm will be seeded with native
seed to prevent runoff and add to the view shed to the southwest. The current stormwater plan has
worked since 1997 with no problems, even during the 500 year flood of September 2013, in the existing
quarry DRMS M-1997-065 and will continue to work for the proposed amendment.
The existing access road follows the eastern boundary of the amended area. The road is elevated above
the amended area and western edge of the road has a steep dip of about 60 degrees toward the
proposed quarry. The composition of the road/canal bank is a mixture of stone and clay that was
excavated from the east side of the road, for the construction of the canal and access road, and has had
over 100 years to compact to it's present state. The northern tip of the eastern edge of the amended
area is 82.96 feet from the western side of the 30 foot wide road. The eastern edge at the southern tip
of the amended area is 170 feet from the western edge of the access road. A notarized and signed
Structure Agreement form, from WRCC who own the Poudre Valley Canal, is in the packet.
The grade of the eastern wall of the amended area running parallel to the access road will maintain the
60 degree dip of the access road bank all the way to the floor of the quarry to ensure the stability of the
canal/access road.
The proposed affected land total will be increased to 46.18 acres.
Additional hauls roads on the amended area will generally follow the path of the "old driveway" to the
south as indicated on the new Mining Plan Map. The "old driveway" from the southeastern tip of the
amended area to the main access road will not be used.
