Nettleton, <br />Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the proposed installation of 12 additional <br />Coal Quality Coreholes. The site selected for the aforementioned coreholes occupies land <br />southwest of Steamboat Springs in section9,10,11,14,15, and 16 T5N, R86W. The <br />proposed activities will utilize existing County and ranch road when possible for access. <br />General Information <br />The Foidel Creek Mine is an area that has existing facilities from current mining activity. <br />Existing vegetation is predominantly sagebrush, grassland, mountain shrub, mined and <br />reclaimed mine. <br />The Twenty Mile Park area has been historically important for greater sage grouse, <br />Columbian sharp -tailed grouse, elk, mule deer and antelope as well as numerous small <br />mammals and raptors. <br />Potential Lnpacts <br />The majority of the impacts to wildlife from the construction of the proposed coreholes <br />should be minimal due to the limited amount of acres disturbed and utilizing existing <br />road for access. <br />The proposed locations for the coal coreholes are not within the production areas of <br />Columbian Sharp -tailed Grouse.
