a
condition in the Southfield mine area was good at the time these surveys
were conducted. Potential vegetative production was estimated to range
between 400 and 1,600 pounds of air dried forage per acre depending upon
soil conditions and vegetation type. Actual production was estimated to
be 1,000 to 1,100 pounds per acre in the Grassland vegetation type while
in the forested areas (Ponderosa Pine - Pinyon- Juniper Woodland) production
varied substantially, depending on slope and aspect, from 500 pounds per
acre to as much as 1,000 pounds per acre.
Carrying capacity for cattle on the site was estimated to be between 1.25
and 5 acres per AUM. Please refer to Exhibit 11, Vegetation Inventory
for more detailed information regarding potential forage production and
range condition of the site.
2.04.10 -6
