AFS
ALBERT FREI & SONS
August 10, 2015
Mr. Tyler O'Donnell
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman St., Suite 215
Denver, CO 80215
Dear Mr. O'Donnell;
RE: Brannan Sand and Gravel
Pit 29 - M-1980-183
Amendment 2.2
P.O. BOX 700
HENDERSON, CO 80640
(303)289-1837
(303) 289-2865 FAX
RECEIVED
AUG 14 x015
Dp#UM OF fEq,AMATION,
MpMNO SAFETY
We are filing this objection to the Brannan Pit 29 amendment
because we do not feel they have adequately address the impact
their planned french drain will have on our property and our
ability to control the ground water mounding around our Worthing
Pit. In the July 2015 adequacy letter the Division says the
historic elevations were 5005 to 5007. We believe they should
be 5003 to 5005, but you propose accepting 5007 to 5009 or what
the Division believes are the historic elevations. We believe
the french drain should match the historic elevations as
determined by the Division.
In addition, there are no design plans for the splash basin or
bank armoring in the area around where their discharge pipe will
enter our property. In Exhibit D they submit a generic design
sheet stating the material they propose to use for the riprap to
be placed on the Worthing Pit. In paragraph 7 of the document,
a reference is made to "Construction Plans". No such plans have
been submitted to Albert Frei & Sons, Inc. for review and we
found none in the Divisions records. We feel this item should
be in the approved amendment to assure that the rip rap
structures are designed and installed using good engineering
practices to assure they work to protect our facilities. Very
similar to the plans we have already submitted for the relief
drain terminus next to the South Platte River.
One observation we noted is that the monitoring level depths
they provided, do not correlate to elevations, so there is no
Cit".
