As a result, the fuel source does not come in direct contact with the raw feed and/or the
kiln baghouse dust. Kiln feed from the main kiln baghouse is collected from preheater carry-over and from the
raw mill. Dust is conveyed with the countercurrent airflow back to the baghouse.
4) If TR -05 is approved, will the kiln baghouse dust be mixed with the overburden and crusher fines then
backfilled, or with the kiln baghouse dust be placed in lifts with the quarry prior to backfilling? Please detail
how the kiln baghouse dust would be placed back into the quarry.
Kiln feed from the main kiln baghouse will be placed in lifts within the quarry prior to backfilling the quarry.
The kiln feed material from the main kiln baghouse will be mixed with the overburden materials, shale and
limestone crusher fines for reclamation activities and backfilling in the respective quarry area. As a result, the
kiln feed material from the main kiln baghouse will be beneficially used for backfilling purposes.
The kiln feed from the main kiln baghouse will be placed in areas demonstrated Attachment B. The blue line
designates the areas that baghouse dust can be placed, within the mining boundary. The area proposed for
placement of kiln baghouse dust for beneficial use is within the primary areas designated for quarrying. GCC
proposes to place kiln baghouse dust within lifts at least 150 feet from arroyos, in areas proposed for
reclamation.
5) Please explain how the kiln baghouse dust is currently being disposed of?
All kiln feed from the main kiln baghouse is currently cycled back into the kiln feed blend silo for use in raw
materials.
6) The submittal for TR -05 contains data from which two toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP)
analysis for samples collected on January 13,201 S. Please clarify which results represent the different
operating temperature of the kiln.
GCC analyzed two kiln feed material samples from the baghouse representative of two operating conditions 140
degrees(o) Celsius and 180° Celsius when a portion of the kiln feed material will be removed from the baghouse.
The results on January 13, 2015 at 1100 hours are representative of the operating condition at 140° Celsius and
the results on January 13, 2015 at 1600 hours are representative of operating conditions at 180° Celsius.
7) Please provide the paste pH for the kiln dust material in both analysis.
Please see the attached results found in Appendix A for the pH paste collect for the samples while the raw mill is
down.
