PERMIT #: P-2009-007
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: MAC
INSPECTION DATE: September 16, 2014
OBSERVATIONS
The inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(Division) and Amy Titterington of the U.S. Forest Service. Chris Garrison was present on behalf of the
Operator. The Golddigger I site is located on Beaver Creek approximately 5 miles northwest of Fairplay,
Colorado. The prospecting operation is occurring on an unpatented claim on the north side of Beaver Creek in
the Pike National Forest.
The Prospector is approved to excavate a trench on the north bank of Beaver Creek; the dimensions of the
excavation are not to exceed 20' L x 30' W x 30' D. The Prospector is authorized to use a recirculating
highbanker within the excavation. Water used for washing the material is imported into the site and is stored
in water tanks. The Prospector is not allowed to discharge water from the site and at no time may
groundwater be exposed within the excavation.
During the inspection, the Division observed a trench which was approximately 15' L x 30'W x 15' D. A small
recirculating highbanker was set up in the center of the trench. The Prospector had a track mounted excavator
on-site which was used to excavate the trench. Topsoil had been salvaged and stockpiled to the north of the
trench. Water for the operation was stored in a 500 gallon tank. The Prospector has installed silt fencing
between the north bank of Beaver Creek and the edge of the trench. The silt fencing was properly installed
and there was no evidence that sediment was leaving the site.
The Division and the USFS jointly hold a financial warranty in the amount of $4,307.29, which has been
determined to be adequate to complete reclamation of the site.
This concluded the inspection.
