Thefollowingfieldmonitoringactivities <br />wereperformedduringthesecondquarterof2015 (AprilthroughJune2015) attheMine: <br />j• Quarterlywaterlevel/flowmeasurementsandfieldparametersweretakenatMW -1, DP <br />SpringandPRSpringonMay29, 2015. <br />jWhirlwind MineTreatmentPlant <br />Duringperiodswhenthetreatmentplantisinoperation, minewaterfromtheMineispumpedto <br />thesurface, storedinawatertank, treatedanddischargedtothemiddletributaryofLumsden <br />Creek. DischargeoftreatedwaterfromtheMineisallowedinaccordancewiththeColorado <br />WastewaterDischargePermitSystem, PermitNo. CO -0047562. <br />EFRIhassuspendeduseoftheMinewatertreatmentplantuntilsuchtimethatminingoperations <br />resume. NowaterhasbeenpumpedfromtheMinesinceDecember2009, andMinewaterhas <br />been allowedto accumulate in the Mine workings. RefertoAppendix1, Attachment1ofthis <br />reportforasummaryofminewatertreatment. <br />a WhirlwindMineandPackratMine <br />TheinflowwithintheMinedeclinecannotbemeasureddirectly, becauseitoccursover <br />approximately100feetfromtheentranceofthedeclineandwithinthedrifts. Thewatercollects <br />intheminesump, andissubsequentlypumpedintotheuntreatedwatertankonthesurfacewhen <br />theMineis operating. During periodsofnon -operation, thegroundwaterinflowcanbe <br />calculatedbasedontheapproximateelevationlevelofaccumulatedminewater, andthevoid <br />volumeoftheworkings. <br />AccesstotheMinedeclinewasrestrictedduringthethirdquarterof2012. Asaresult, flowrate <br />andfieldparametermeasurementswerealsoputonholduntilsuchtimethattheMineis <br />reopened. HistoricalflowratesandfieldparametersfromtheMinedeclinewaterareincludedin <br />Appendix1, Attachment2. AnalyticaldatafromtheprevioussamplescollectedfromtheMine <br />aresummarizedinAppendix2, Table1. <br />CharacterizationofminewaterinthePackratMinecouldnotbeconducted, becausethemineis <br />notyetaccessible. Appendix1, Attachment3ofthisreportisreservedforfielddatacollected <br />fromthePackratMineatsuchtimethatitbecomesaccessibleandismonitored. <br />1
