The purpose of this letter is to
provide confirmation to CDRMS that CPW has reviewed the revised route for the access and
haul road associated with the proposed Collom Mine. The proposed road is located in T. 4 N.,
R. 93 W., Sec. 20-22, 29, 30, and T. 4 N., R. 94 W., Sec. 25, 36, 6th Principle Meridian.
CPW has worked collaboratively with the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSMRE) and Colowyo Mine to develop site-specific mitigation that will help
reduce, minimize or avoid impacts to wildlife and wildlife habitat associated with this
project. These mitigation practices have been documented via other correspondence
documents with OSMRE, and CPW believes that the proposed road realignment falls within the
scope of anticipated impacts that were considered and included in these documents.
CPW appreciates the opportunity to provide comments for your consideration during your
review of this technical revision for the Collom mine access and haul road realignment. If you
have additional questions or need additional information, please contact Brett Smithers, Land
Use Specialist at (970) 878-6069.
Sincerely,
Bill deVergie
Area Wildlife Manager, Meeker
Cc: Jeff Goncalves, District Wildlife Manager, Meeker North
Evan Jones, District Wildlife Manager, Craig South
Darby Finley, Terrestrial Biologist, Meeker
Brian Holmes, Species Conservation Biologist, Meeker
Brett Smithers, Land Use Specialist, Meeker
Bob D.
