COLORADO
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
July 20, 2015
Bill Bear
Bowie Resources, LLC
P.O. Box 1488
Paonia, CO 81428
RE: Bowie No. 2 Mine, Permit No. C- 1996 -083
Technical Revision No. 103 (TR -103)
Second Adequacy Review
Dear Mr. Bear,
The Division received Bowie Resources, LLC's (BRL's) application for a technical revision (TR -103) on May
19, 2015. The application was determined to be complete on May 29, 2015. One comment letter has
been received for the proposed action from the Colorado State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO)
stating that it is the opinion of the SHPO that a finding of no historic properties affected is appropriate
for the proposed action in TR -103. The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety completed
its preliminary adequacy review of the proposed technical revision in a letter dated June 24, 2015. J. E.
Stover responded to the Division's comments on behalf of BRL in a letter dated July 7, 2015. Please
respond to the following comments or concerns as necessary:
Division's initial comment - Based on the information provided in the TR -103 application,
monitoring site CWI -DH -58 is requested to be terminated due to the fact that it has been
replaced with monitoring site CWI- DH -58A. According to approved permit page 2.05 -1331, site
CWI -DH -58 is an upgradiant well completed in the Upper B -Seam and above and below. The
proposed replacement site CWI -DH -58A is not listed on the approved pages 2.05 -133i or 2.05 -131.
Proposed replacement page 2.05 -131 identifies site CWI -DH -58A as, Upper B -Seam. Please
provide information as to the formation or seam that site CWI -DH -58A is completed in and a
revised page 2.05 -1331 to include information associated with site CWI -DH -58A.
BRL response - CWI -DH -58A is completed in the B -Seam. Amended page 2.05 -1331 is enclosed.
Division comment - The Division agrees that monitoring can be permanently suspended at site
CWI -DH -58 due to the completion of replacement well CWI -DH -58A to serve as an upgradiant well
completed in the B -Seam. BRL's response is adequate.
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http: / /mining.state.co.us
John W.
