COLORADO <br />Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety <br />Department of Natural Resources <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />July 22, 2015 <br />Mark Tobias <br />Office of Archaeology & Historic Preservation <br />History Colorado Center <br />1200 Broadway <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: Foidel Creek Mine (Permit No. C-1982-056) <br />Minor Revision No. 288 (MR- 288) <br />5 Main North Water Pipelines. <br />Dear Mr. Tobias: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, that on July 22, 2015 an <br />application to revise coal mining operations at the Foidel Creek Mine was received from <br />Twentymile Coal, LLC and considered complete for the purposes of filing. The ten day review <br />and comment period provided for in the Act and the Regulations initiates from this date of filing. <br />With this revision, Twentymile Coal, LLC (TC) seeks the approval to convert the existing 5 -Mine <br />North (5MN) borehole to a dewatering borehole and install about 5,000 feet of buried pipeline with <br />vertical culvert access installations at five valve locations. This proposed activity is projected to <br />disturb 4.6 acres in the N1/2 of the S1/2 of Section 17, of Township 5 North, Range 86 West. This <br />facility is proposed to be used to pump water from the current and possibly from future mine <br />workings to be transferred to the existing 6 -Main North (6MN) Reservoir, the existing 10 -Right <br />water pipeline or a possible future passive water treatment system. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 23 miles Southwest of <br />Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />In portions of Sections 7, 8, 9, T4N, R86W; Sections 32 and 33, T6N, R86W; Sections 23, 24, 25, <br />26, 27, 34, 35 and 36 in T5N, R87W; and all of T5N, R86W with the exception of Sections 34, 35, <br />and 36.
