7/27/2015
State.co.us Executive Branch Mail - Fwd: Sage Creek
STATE, OF Hernandez - DNR AI sha <al sha.hernandez state.co.us>
COLORADO , Y Y
Hello Alysha,
Please scan this e-mail into Laserfiche for the Peabody Sage Creek Mine; C-2009-087. Please scan under
Inspections and title it "Status update on maintenance items".
Thank you,
Jared
---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Cowman, Scott <SCo an peabodyenergy.com>
Date: Fri, Jul 17, 2015 at 9:55 AM
Subject: Sage Creek
To: "Ebert - DNR, Jared Oared. ebert state. Co. us)" <jared.ebert@state.co.us>
Jared — wanted to let you know that I'm going to be gone next week at a waste water certification class in
Leadville. Dennis Jones should be here probably Tue-Thurs but his status is on an as -needed basis. To get you
up to speed on recent activities in case you show up next week for monthly inspection and no one is here,
here's a list of recent and ongoing maintenance activities:
1. We've spend several days spraying for noxious weeds; primarily thistle and houndstongue. I'm thinking
we'll spray a couple of more days before waiting until later in the season to hit it again.
2. The ditch at the top of the hill near the million gallon tank has been re -shaped and armored
3. After a high intensity storm last week the ditches and culverts associated with Road D needed some
maintenance and that has been done with the exception of the culvert at the bottom of the hill (SC -17), which is
scheduled to be done on Monday.
4. The inlet to the lower sump has been partially repaired where it was cutting into the bank. I expect that to
be completed on Monday also
5. The rills we have been watching on the hillside above that upper stock pond haven't grown and have begun
to grass in pretty well. We'll continue to monitor and decide if any action is warrented.
6. There are a few other odds and ends based on your inspection reports. We'll continue to chip away based
on priority — several items related to the closed properties need attention also
Let me know if you have any questions.
- Scott
https://m ail.googl e.com/mail/u/0/?ui=2&i k=e29129fcb5&view= pt&search= i nbox&th=14eab83de99dc5O9&si ml=14eab83de99dc509 1/2
