King Coal Mine (C-1981-035) TR -24 Adequacy Review #1 Response
DRMS 06/14: Section 2.05.6 has not yet been updated. Please revise in accordance with 4.18.
GCC's fish and wildlife contractor is reviewing this request. He is currently providing
services for another client and will respond to this section as soon as possible.
2. DRMS 02/18: A determination of the probable hydrologic consequences is presented in Section 2.05.6 of
the approved permit application package. GCC has predicted that there will not be any negative impacts
to the hydrologic balance. Under 2.04.7, above, the Division has requested that the baseline hydrology
sections of the permit be updated. Please update the discussion of probable hydrologic consequences to
incorporate any new information that is obtained, in accordance with 2.05.6(3)(b)(iii).
DRMS 06/14: The Division intended that discussion in Sections 2.05.6 regarding protection of
hydrologic balance and the PHC would be updated to incorporate the supplemental well information. No
revised pages were submitted. Please update Sections 2.05.6 as requested.
As mentioned above, a geo-hydrologist has been retained by GCC Energy to review
groundwater hydrology as it applies to CDRMS and OSMRE current and future permit
areas. This report, as well as updated Sections 2.05.6, will be forwarded to the Division
upon completion.
2.10 Maps and Plans
3. DRMS 02/18: Rule 2.10.2 Permit and Adjacent Areas requires that a map be submitted which distinguishes
among each of the phases during which coal mining operations have been or will be conducted. Minimum
distinctions to be made are listed in (1) thru (3) of the rule. Maps King 1-001 and King II -001 are each
entitled "Permit and Adjacent Areas", but neither one presents the information required by 2.10.2. Please
revise these maps to present the required distinctions.
DRMS 06/14: Maps 001 have been amended to incorporate the information requested, but the scale of
these maps and the font size utilized make it difficult to see the phases clearly. Please show the King 1
phases (including surface disturbances) required by 2.10.2 at a legible scale. This might be readily
accomplished by portraying the areas on Maps King 1-005 and King 1-007, if that is easier than creating an
entirely new map for that purpose.
King I mining phases have been removed from Map King I-001 and placed on Map
King I-005.
Please find attached:
• King I Section 2.03.4 pages 4, 5, 8v 6
• King I Section 2.03. 10 page 1
• Maps King I-001 thru King 1-007 8s King 1-011
• King II Section 2.03.4 pages 4, 5, 8v 6
• King II Section 2.03. 10 page 1
• King I Section 2.05.3 pages, 6, 6a, 7a, 8s 8
• Maps King 11-001 thru King 11-007
