Dense Thistle
,4 Growth (treat to
within 25 feet
of road at
minimum)
IL leafy spurge'--
-i
purge-- -
treatment needed
I
Operation: COAL CREEK RESOURCES
Permit: M-1988-044
Lease: GL264-5th Amendment
Operator: Schmidt Construction Company
Land Owner: State of Colorado
----------- New Lease Boundary
— New Permit Boundary
Weed Control
As a result of a very wet
Spring, weed growth is intense
and vigorous. It is likely that this
will be a major weed expansion
year with strong seed production.
It is therefore important to control
weeds before the seed is
produced or future years will
show even more weed growth
and it will be even more difficult
and costly to control weeds.
Along the roads the tall,
spiny thistles often called Bull
Thistle are very dense to about
half way (or a little more) to the
plant site from Quincy. South of
there, thistle patches are very
scattered. As much of this weed
growth as possible should be
sprayed with appropriate
herbicides prior to seed set.
The central area of the plant
site is also very heavily infested
next to and on the soil stockpile.
Knapweed has crossed the road
to the south and east. There is
also a small amount of leafy
spurge on the stockpile along
with a lot of thistle. All of this
should be treated at the
appropriate time and hopefully it
can be treated in one operation.
As required by the
Operation Plan in the lease
(page 12), the Reclamation
Permit, and the Colorado
Noxious Weed Act, control of
noxious weeds is required as a
matter of law.
2015 Weed Control Map 1
N True North Magnetic
n I*N.dh(10.1E)
0 500 1000 1500 2000
1" = 1 9M,
Thistle,
Knapweed,
some Leafy
t
Spurge
9
Very Spotty
Thistle
I
Operation: COAL CREEK RESOURCES
Permit: M-1988-044
Lease: GL264-5th Amendment
Operator: Schmidt Construction Company
Land Owner: State of Colorado
----------- New Lease Boundary
— New Permit Boundary
Weed Control
As a result of a very wet
Spring, weed growth is intense
and vigorous.
