J++'a
i Huddle,tuu-Barn
Also as indicated previously, HBET does not believe that a free water surface
exists within the gob. In addition, based upon the available data, significant increases in
the pore pressures in VWP-05, VWP-09, and VWP-10 are unlikely. The monitoring data
does indicate slight increases in the pore pressures in VWP-06 and VWP-08 over the last
couple of months; however, the increases are likely associated with active gob placement
operations and are a fraction of increases necessary to reduce the factor -of -safety to
below 1.5. It is also important to note that as the height of the pile increases, the active
placement area will become farther away from VWP-06 and VWP-08. HBET anticipates
that at some point, the pore pressures in these instruments will stabilize and then begin to
decrease. Although the current pore pressures do not indicate instability in gob pile #2 at
the full buildout height, it is impossible to accurately predict changes in the pore
pressures over time. As a result, continued quarterly monitoring of the piezometers is
recommended to identify any significant changes in the pore water pressures which may
impact the stability of gob pile #2.
4.0 GENERAL
This conclusions, results, etc. in this report is based upon the information in the
referenced documents, current analyses, and on our experience with similar projects. The
conclusions are valid only for the subject project.
Huddleston -Berry Engineering and Testing, LLC is pleased to be of service to
your project.
