July 7, 2015 C-1981-038/Bowie No. 1 Mine JDM <br />All ditches and culverts at the East Mine designed to convey run-off from the reclaimed slopes to the ponds were <br />stable with no problems noted. The culvert beneath the access road to Ponds 1 and 2 and the culvert from ditch 7 <br />to Pond 2 were clear of sediment. The rock lined channel on the west side of the refuse disposal area was holding <br />sediment in the area of the small access road. This material was not jeopardizing the channel as of the date of the <br />inspection and may be flushed out during a heavy precipitation event, but should be monitored. <br />Ponds 1, 2, 3, and 4 and Ponds W-1, W-2, the Timber Storage Pond, and the West Ridge Pond were stable with no <br />problems noted. All ponds were dry with the exception of pooled water in Ponds 1, 2, and 3 with no discharge <br />noted. Gates at the Ponds 1, 2, and 3 primary spillways were open. <br />W-1 and W-2 Ponds <br />Pond 2 <br />Pond 3 Pond 4 <br />The silt fence was in good condition and was repaired in areas previously noted as unattached. All surface drainage is directed to the <br />roadside ditch on the uphill side of the road by water bars.
