July 7, 2015 C-1981-038/Bowie No. 1 Mine JDM
All ditches and culverts at the East Mine designed to convey run-off from the reclaimed slopes to the ponds were
stable with no problems noted. The culvert beneath the access road to Ponds 1 and 2 and the culvert from ditch 7
to Pond 2 were clear of sediment. The rock lined channel on the west side of the refuse disposal area was holding
sediment in the area of the small access road. This material was not jeopardizing the channel as of the date of the
inspection and may be flushed out during a heavy precipitation event, but should be monitored.
Ponds 1, 2, 3, and 4 and Ponds W-1, W-2, the Timber Storage Pond, and the West Ridge Pond were stable with no
problems noted. All ponds were dry with the exception of pooled water in Ponds 1, 2, and 3 with no discharge
noted. Gates at the Ponds 1, 2, and 3 primary spillways were open.
W-1 and W-2 Ponds
Pond 2
Pond 3 Pond 4
The silt fence was in good condition and was repaired in areas previously noted as unattached. The silt -fence will
continue to be an on-going maintenance item until the fence is no longer required.
ROADS — Rule 4.03 Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and Maintenance
4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
The East Mine Haul Road has been narrowed to the current configuration.
