SOIL LOSS COMPARISON - BOWIE NO.2 MINE
RECLAIMED VERSUS BASELINE (ADJACENT) CONDITIONS
The following calculations are presented to determine if untreated drainage from select reclaimed
drill sites and roads are contributing suspended solids to stream flow or runoff outside the permit
area in excess of pre -mining levels. Sediment control for the drill sites is provided by sediment
fences, straw logs or straw waddles.
The drill sites and road with vegetation adequacy to control erosion are shown on the attached 2014 Annual
Reclamtion Report Map. The dril sites are numbered 1 through 77 The roads are numbered by adding 100
to the drill site for which it provides access. Thus road #125 provides access to drill site number #25.
The baseline data for comparison are considered to be those conditions that exist in the adjacent
areas The adjacent areas in this case are the three major vegetation types identified in Cedar Creek
Associates Inc. drill permit area Vegetation Resources Inventory dated March 2015. The condition of
the adjacent areas are shown in Table 2 of the report. Cedar Creek Associates Inc. Drill Pads and
Access Roads Phase II Bond Release Report dated March 2015 presents the condition of the reclaimed
drill pads and access roads in Table 2. The Cedar Creek reports are located in Volume III, Exhibit 5.
Adjacent Area - Mesic Mountain Shrub
Baseline
Total Perennial Cover+Rock+Litter
97.2%
Perennial Cover.
Perennial Cover:
Grasses, Grasslikes
3.9%
Grasses, Grasslikes 1
10.9%
Forbs 1 1
11.8%
Trees, Shrubs & Sub -Shrubs
44.6%
Other - Rock
0.8%
Litter
29.1
89.9%
]Canopy Trees & Shrubs
54.1%
Total Perennial Cover+Litter
96.4%
Cano Trees & Shrubs
44.6%
Ground Cover at Surface 96.4 - 44.6
51.8%
Adjacent Area - Xeric Mountain Shrub
Baseline
Total Perennial Cover+ Rock+ Litter
91.7%
Perennial Cover.
Perennial Cover:
Grasses, Grasslikes
3.9%
Forbs 1
3.3%
Trees, Shrubs & Sub -Shrubs
541%
Other - Rock
1.8%
Litter
28.6%
Litter
Total Perennial Cover+Litter
89.9%
]Canopy Trees & Shrubs
54.1%
Ground Cover at Surface 89.9 -_54.1
35.8%
Adjacent Area -Asp en
Baseline
Total Perennial Cover+ Rock+ Litter
96.9%
Perennial Cover:
Grasses, Grasslikes
6.3%
Forbs 1
15.7%
Trees, Shrubs & Sub -Shrubs
45.3%
Other - Rock
0.3%
Litter
29.3%
Total Perennial Cover+Litter
96.6%
Cano Trees & Shrubs
45.3%
Ground Cover at Surface 96 6 - 45.3
51.3%
Volume 1116, Tab 24 Page 1
TR -101 04/15
