DMSION 0t " �,7LAMATION <br />Environmental Protection Specialist MINING:,,..- AFETY <br />Colorado Department of Natural Resources <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety <br />Office of Mined Land Reclamation <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />Re: Permit No. M-1980-24 - Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Com an "CC&V" <br />Cresson Projec ; —Response on potential hydrocarbon discharge"as a corrective action <br />follow up on the 17 June 2015 DRMS inspection <br />Dear Mr. Cazier: <br />CC&V is writing to you with regard to the following finding from the 17 June 2015 DRMS <br />inspection report issued on 24 June 2015: <br />INSPECTION TOPIC: Acid and Toxic Materials <br />PROBLEM/POSSIBLE VIOLATION: Problem: A petroleum product spill(s) has/have <br />occurred at the site which has impacted soils, surface water or groundwater. <br />CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: The Operator shall immediately remediate the spill and submit a <br />final report to the Division containing at least a description of how the spill was cleaned up <br />(containing at a minimum — the appropriate maps, volumes removed, photo documentation, and <br />disposal) and provide a plan on how the Operator will prevent this issue from occurring again. <br />The plan may include a design modification in the secondary containment structure at the site of <br />the spill. <br />CORRECTIVE ACTION DUE DATE: 7124115 <br />CC&V has addressed the discharge of hydrocarbon to containment listed as a spill in the findings <br />of Elliott Russell's inspection report. As I explained to Elliott at the time the lubricant load out <br />area at the back of the warehouse is lined and so the dribs and drabs of hydrocarbon that build up <br />there between periodic clean outs of the sump cannot enter the environment.
