Idarado Mining Company
2014/2015 Annual Report
June 23, 2015
Page 2
approved Weed Management Plan for the Idarado Mine Site. Due to the effectiveness of control
methods in previous years, only mullein was observed in 2014 in isolated pockets along portions of
the bottom of the slope segment on Telluride Tailing Piles 1-4. Mullein has been controlled by
hand pulling. Noxious weed inspections and any necessary control measures will be continued
during the 2015 field season.
4. Assessment and development of plans have continued for the Pandora Mill building. Asbestos
abatement was substantially completed prior to the current anniversary year. In 2014, asbestos
abatement was completed by removal of a small amount of asbestos roof insulation that remained
in the exterior building eaves. San Miguel County expressed interest in preserving the mill
building for historic purposes and conducted a structural evaluation of the building in late 2014.
At this time, it is unknown if the County is interested in moving forward to utilize public funds to
stabilize and preserve the building.
During the permit year, the following six structures at the Red Mountain surface facility were
demolished and removed:
• Geology Building (Red Mountain yard area)
• Phone Building (Red Mountain yard area)
• Transformer Building (Red Mountain yard area)
• Powder Magazine - Block Building (Barstow area, west of Hwy 550)
• Powder Magazine - Old Log Building (Barstow area, west of Hwy 550)
• Primer Magazine Building (Barstow area, west of Hwy 550)
The structures were removed according to demolition permits issued by Ouray County. Prior to
removal of the structures, asbestos -containing material (ACM) inspection and testing was
conducted, and as necessary, ACM abatement was performed. Abatement was required only for
ACM identified in the Geology Building. Concrete foundations for all the structures were
removed, with the concrete ruble currently piled near the old mill foundation for future disposition.
6. Mining and milling operations associated with the Idarado Mine are not and were not operational
during the permit year. No mining beneficiation or waste rock/tailing disposal operations were
conducted during the permit year.
7. No new surface land disturbances were conducted in the 2014/2015 anniversary year.
