During excavation for the french drain and pipeline, the topsoil will be stockpiled
and used for reclamation. Since the actual excavation is only 10' in width, the
area will be reclaimed with the existing slopes and drainage.
Reseeding will occur on both the excavated area and the area affected by the
construction of the french drain. Earthmoving will consist of backhoe trenching.
The trench will be backfilled with gravel from the present mining of Pit 29. The
gravel will extend to within 1-2 feet of the surface. Native soil will be used to fill
to the surface. The pipeline portion of the excavation will be backfilled to the
surface and reseeded.
The post-mining uses will not change from the previous amendment. The Pit 29
and Stagecoach Pit properties will remain as banks for proposed water storage
reservoirs, and the county road will remain a county road.
The reclamation of the affected area will commence immediately upon
completion of drain installation and backfill. By Mined Land Reclamation Board
order dated October 29, 2014, the implementation is required to commence
within 30 days of Division approval and be completed with 180 days thereafter.
Reclamation will be completed by the 180 day deadline.
In summary the anticipated timeline is as follows:
ActivitV Days after Approval
Drain Installation and Backfill 30— 90 days
Reclamation 90— 180 days
Reclamation of the affected area will be done in one phase. The affected areas
will be reseeded except where there is a road. The soils in the area are loamy.
Table 1 is the recommended seed mix. We will consult with the landowner to
determine their desired grass type.
