Box 1488 <br />Paonia, CO 81428 <br />RE: Bowie No. 2 Mine, Permit No. C-1996-083 <br />Technical Revision No. 103 (TR -103) <br />Preliminary Adequacy Review <br />Dear Mr. Bear, <br />The Division received Bowie Resources, LLC's (BRL's) application for a technical revision (TR -103) on May <br />19, 2015. The application was determined to be complete on May 29, 2015. One comment letter has <br />been received for the proposed action from the Colorado State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) <br />stating that it is the opinion of the SHPO that a finding of no historic properties affected is appropriate <br />for the proposed action in TR -103. The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety has <br />completed its preliminary adequacy review of the proposed technical revision. Please respond to the <br />following comments or concerns as necessary: <br />1. Based on the information provided in the TR -103 application, monitoring site CWI-DH-58 is <br />requested to be terminated due to the fact that it has been replaced with monitoring site CWI- <br />DH-58A. According to approved permit page 2.05-1331, site CWI-DH-58 is an upgradiant well <br />completed in the Upper B -Seam and above and below. The proposed replacement site CWI-DH- <br />58A is not listed on the approved pages 2.05-133i or 2.05-131. Proposed replacement page 2.05- <br />131 identifies site CWI-DH-58A as, Upper B -Seam. Please provide information as to the <br />formation or seam that site CWI-DH-58A is completed in and a revised page 2.05-133i to <br />include information associated with site CWI-DH-58A. <br />2. According to approved page 2.05-1331, sites DH -25 and DH -38 are completed in the Upper D -Seam <br />and serve as upgradiant monitoring wells. Based on the table accompanying the TR -103 cover <br />Letter, both sites DH -25 and DH -38 are currently active for water level only. These two sites are <br />required to be monitored for field parameters quarterly and a full suite sample will be conducted <br />semi-annually. In order to meet the requirements of Rule 2.05.6(3) and to ensure that the <br />quality of groundwater should not be impacted, stated in the PHC section of the Bowie No. 2 <br />PAP, please provide information addressing which sites will be utilized in place of DH -25 and <br />1 F� UJ <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining.state.co.us <br />John W.
