Skies were clear, and the temperature was in the low
90s.
Due to unusually wet conditions that were prevalent in May and early June, the reclaimed areas
were spectularly verdant. Reclamation, including reseeding, was accomplished in 2006. It is
anticipated that revegetation sampling for Year 9 will be conducted in 2015, with Year 10
sampling following in 2016.
PERMITTING UPDATE:
MR -08 Surface Ownership and Right of Entry: On April 9, 2015, Oakridge Energy, Inc. sold its
property on Ewing Mesa, including those areas within the Carbon Junction Mine permit
boundary. The new surface owners are Marc and Jane Katz. With MR -08, approved on June 16,
2015, Section 2.03.6 of the permit was revised, and a Right -of -Entry agreement was incorporated
into Appendix 3-2. Section 2.03.4 text also needs to be revised to reflect the change in
ownership, as does Map 3-1, Surface and Coal Ownership. Please submit a second minor
revision application, addressing these portions of the permit, at your earliest convenience.
PR -01 Revised Post -Mining Land Use / Final Reclamation: An adequacy response was received
from Oakridge on May 29, 2015. The decision date is June 30, 2015.
ROADS Rule 4.03
Construction 4.03.1(3) / 4.03.2(3); Drainage 4.03.1(4) / 4.03.2(4); Surfacing and Maintenance
4.03.1(5) and (6) / 4.03.2(5) and (6); Reclamation 4.03.1(7) / 4.03.2(7):
• Pavement on the permanent haul road is starting to ravel, due to disuse, but the road is still
serviceable. Maintenance of the roadside ditches has been recently performed in spots where
sediment had accumulated.
Repairs made on the reclaimed North Pit Haul Road appear to have been successful. Large
water bars were constructed on the inside half of the road, to direct any surface runoff to the
hillside ditch. No signs of new erosion were observed.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 4
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4 Page 2 of 10
