June 9, 2015 C-2010-089/New Horizon North Mine BFB
The ring ditch around the Pond 002 topsoil stock pile was in good condition and had collected some sediment
from the stock pile. There is still very little desired vegetation on the topsoil stock pile. Bind weed is starting to
sprout on the stockpile and needs to be treated before it becomes the dominant vegetation.
The north topsoil stockpile by the facilities area was seeded with the new seed mix approved in MR -14. The steep
slopes were roughened with small divets to create places for the seeds to germinate and catch water (photo 8).
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Photo 1 — Water Flowing Through Flume
Waterlevel
Photo 2 — Pond 001 Discharge Structure
Photo 3 — Pond 2 Contained Water Photo 4 — Erosion at North Inlet of Pond 2
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 10
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 4 of 6
