herbicide labels will be followed. Appropriate herbicide application records will be
maintained as specified by the CDA. Records must be retained by the applicator for three
years from the date of application.
If a spill was to occur, the Licensed Commercial Pesticide Applicator shall halt the spill if
possible, investigate, clean up, and document impacts resulting from spills/releases as
soon as practicable following CDA pesticide spill procedures:
1. Control the Spill — Immediately after the spill has occurred steps must be
taken to control the flow of spilling or leaking pesticide. All applicators must
have access to a spill kit and do everything possible to safely stop the leak or
spill at once. For example, a tipped container may need to be righted, a
leaking container may need to be placed inside a larger container, or leaking
equipment may need to be shut down until it can be repaired. When
attempting to control the flow of the chemical, do not expose yourself
unnecessarily. Always carry protective equipment and clothing when
transporting pesticides. Use this equipment when pesticide emergencies occur.
2. Contain the Spill — Use the spill kit materials to prevent the spill form flowing
into a larger area by placing absorbent material around the spill.
3. Clean the spill up — refer to safety data sheet (SDS) and contact your chemical
retailer or manufacturer for cleanup of specific chemicals.
Cresson Project Weed Management Plan 7
