Therefore, exposure of ground <br />water must not occur during or after mining operations. <br />® The proposed operation will consume ground water by: ❑ evaporation, ® dust control, <br />❑ reclamation, ❑ water removed in the mined product, ❑ processing, ❑ other: <br />❑ The applicant has indicated plans to use other water at the permit site for the following purposes: <br />❑ dust control, ❑ reclamation, ❑ processing, ❑ other: <br />COMMENTS: The East Rigden Pit is a surface mining operation on a total of 518 permitted acres. The <br />application seeks an amendment to change the post -mining land use from pasture/open space to wildlife <br />habitat and developed water resources. <br />The East Rigden Pit Substitute Water Supply Plan (WDID 0302570) covers depletions at the site due to dust <br />control use and past mining and dewatering operations and is currently valid through February 29, 2016. The <br />liner for the Rigden Storage Reservoir (WDID 0303326) was approved as meeting the design standard in a letter <br />dated May 20, 2015 and the Rigden Storage Reservoir is now classified as a lined reservoir. The site must <br />continue to be included in a valid substitute water supply plan or court -approved augmentation plan until such <br />time as all lagged depletions have been replaced to the satisfaction of the State Engineer, Division Engineer, <br />and water commissioner. <br />Any storm water runoff intercepted by this operation that is not diverted or captured in priority must infiltrate <br />into the ground or be released to the stream system within 72 hours. Otherwise, the operator will be required <br />to make replacements for evaporation. <br />This office has no objection to the proposed amendment.
