3.0 Specific Reclamation Activities and Results
3_1 Phase I Areas
As shown on Exhibit 1, each area requested for bond release is comprised of smaller
units, which correspond to the specific year that backfilling and grading was
performed. The work completed includes regrading to the approved post -mining
topography and installation of post -mining drainage channels in required areas.
Grading and topsoil replacement is generally performed in the summer and fall
months. See Table 1- Summary of Reclamation Activities for an overview of the
worked performed for each reclaimed area.
The reclaimed areas have been regraded consistent with the approved post -mining
topography (See Map 19 and 19A, Permit C-1981-019 for the approved post -mining
topography), and follows all criteria set forth for Phase I bond release by the Division.
Please refer to Exhibit 2A and 2B for six (6) representative cross-sections of the
regraded areas in relation to the approved post -mining topography.
Permanent channels have been established in the Phase I areas, in accordance with
the approved construction design parameters located in Permit C-1981-019. These
constructed channels including locations and cross-section, are identified in the 2014
Annual Reclamation Report on file at the Colowyo Mine site and the Colorado
Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety, Denver office. This document is
available for review upon request. Under this Phase I application, Colowyo is
requesting release on specific segments of the West Pit Fill Ditch and the Gulch A
Ditch. The as -built profile in relation to the design profile has been provided on
Exhibit 3. In the West Pit, East Pit and South Taylor Pit, three permanent post -mine
channels have not been included in this application due to the fact the entire
watershed draining to these post -mine channels has not be entirely reclaimed to date.
This includes all or segments of the Coal Road Ditch, Final East Pit Ditch, West
Taylor West Trib Ditch, West Taylor East Trib Ditch, Trib D, and Trib F.
